A quick update on the big trip: We have emailed about 30 golf courses so far and have received overwhelmingly positive responses from Branson, Gettysburg, Fairbanks, and Boothbay, among others. We've made a few changes and will soon be contacting visitors bureaus and chambers of commerce for information on the various towns. As the price of oil has risen, we've shortened the trip as much as possible. So, all systems are go for an April 21 takeoff for our first golf course, Apache Stronghold in San Carlos, Arizona. This is on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, which coincidentally is only a short distance from the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation where we spent two busy years from 1974-76. I was just out of internship and served as a physician for the Apache people there. It is also where our second oldest son Jamie was born over 30 years ago. It was a great experience, so it is fitting that we start our trip in San Carlos. Geronimo!!!
